Make at home Cinnamon & Honey Body Scrub!

Honey & Cinnamon Body Scrub

We all know that cinnamon is good for us but the true extent is astounding, it has been used for thousands of years and amongst the benefits of its use are detailed below.

Cinnamon is also loaded with powerful antioxidants, so it’s a great all-rounder and helps to lower blood sugar levels in diabetics which is a subject close to my heart as I have type 1 diabetes. It helps the body fight infections and repair tissue damage and Cinnamon has also been linked with helping to reduce the risk of heart disease, the world’s most common cause of premature death. Two compounds found in cinnamon appear to inhibit the build-up of a protein called tau in the brain, which is one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease.  And cinnamon also contains vitamin A,C,B6,Calcium,Iron and Magnesium.

Honey is also a fabulously versatile and all-natural ingredient to use on skin. It too is full of antioxidants which are good for preventing ageing in the skin, plus it’s antibacterial which helps with acne treatment and prevent. It also clarifies skin by opening up and unclogging pores which is why it’s perfect for a body scrub!

Your body is covered in a layer of dead skin cells . The lotion that you put on your skin has to work its way through layers of dead skin cells just to reach the top layer of your skin or the epidermis. No matter how much body lotion you put on those dead skin cells, they still remain dead skin cells. If you want healthy smooth, glowing skin, you must get rid of that layer of dead skin cells. Not only will your body moisturiser work better after you exfoliate, your skin will look brighter and more even toned. Regular exfoliation can also help prevent in-grown hairs that many people suffer from because of shaving

The cook’s ingredients needed are:

½ cup of raw sugar or Epsom salts for me being sugar sensitive.

4 tablespoons of melted coconut oil or almond oil.

½ teaspoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of honey

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Blend these ingredients together and store in a sterilised jar with a lid which will keep for 6 months in your fridge.

Rub the scrub gently into your skin working in circular movements working up towards the heart then rinse and pat the skin dry with a soft towel. Do this once a week for a great healthy glowing skin.

Have fun and get scrubbing lovely FJ people.
